Kim Smiley

Ms. Smiley received her early training in Tulsa, OK with former Ballet Russe dancers, Moscelyne Larkin and Roman Jasinski. She was the recipient of a Ford Foundation Scholarship to George Balanchine’s School of American Ballet in NYC.

She performed as a principal dancer with the Cincinnati Ballet Company and then returned to Tulsa Ballet Theatre, dancing principal roles to critical acclaim, as well as assuming the responsibilities of Ballet Mistress for the company.

During this time, she was featured on the cover of Dancemagazine and profiled in Elle Magazine.

Upon her move to Portland, Ms. Smiley guest performed with James Canfield’s Oregon Ballet Theatre and then joined the teaching faculty of The School of Oregon Ballet for many years, under the guidance of Haydee’ Gutierrez/School Director.

Kimberly continues to enjoy teaching, and her Northwest lifestyle, with husband and two boys.
